How can school students and school leavers from the uncontrolled territory get Ukrainian education?

External education school students study individually, at home, but they are registered at some school which provides external education and may consult a teacher when necessary.

They should come to the school on the controlled territory twice a year to take tests in all
subjects.

At the end of the year, they are to take examinations in order to be transferred to the next grade (examinations in the 9th and 11th grades) and to take external examinations.

Distance education is held online at distance schools. There are five distance schools in the Donetsk region: in Mariupol, Kramatorsk, Slovyansk, Pokrovsk, and Bakhmut. In the Luhansk region there are 3 schools: in Lisichansk, Severodonetsk, and Rubizhne.

Training is held online and starts with registration on the school site. It is required to come to the controlled territory for final state examinations and external independent testing.

According to the Kalmius Group expert, all these educational opportunities are an element of the Donbas reintegration.

«Today the existence of the single and integrated education space is a prerequisite of effective reintegration of certain communities of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions. 0:12 The opportunities to get higher education provided by the state through, for example, the system of Donbas-Ukraine education centers guarantee future employment to young Ukrainians», said Oleksandr Dmitriyev.

How to join an external or distance course?

1. Choose a school
2. Ask parents (or other majors) to write an application to the school principal
3. Send the application online or by post together with your birth certificate and copies of the documents confirming your education, if there are any

You may call regional departments of education and science for details:

In the Donetsk region: +38 (095) 314-15-75, +38 (067) 116-44-54 (Slovyansk).
In the Luhansk region: +38 (06452) 5-48-73 (Severodonetsk).

After receiving the External Independent Testing certificate, you may enter any Ukrainian university on general terms or through Donbas-Ukraine centers.
